Brad Stevens Postgame Interview | Celtics vs Trailblazers
  • 3 years ago
Brad Stevens was interviewed postgame following the Celtics’ 116-115 win over the Portland Trailblazers. He talked about Marcus Smart’s play since his return from injury, as well as the energy and play of Jayson Tatum and Kemba Walker.
Smart missed significant time after going down with a calf injury earlier this season. “He just missed eight weeks with an injury,” said Brad when asked about his initial struggles. “It’s hard to come back and be yourself after that.” Stevens also commented on how huge Smart is for this team with his hustle plays and energy level. Smart missed a free throw in the clutch that helped secure the win for the Celtics, as well as making multiple clutch plays on the defensive end.
Stevens also commented on Kemba Walker, who played a huge role in this game. “I thought Kemba’s energy was great,” said Stevens. He also mentioned the fact that “it still helped when we got more guys healthy.”
Tatum had yet another monster game against the Trailblazers. Stevens talked about his incredible play and how he’s been focusing more on getting to the rim. “This is about the time around last year when he started taking off,” said Stevens. “It helps when you have all four guys out there ‘cause then they can’t just load up on him.”
