Naxals release CRPF jawan Rakeshwar Singh Manhas, family erupts with joy

CRPF's CoBRA jawan Rakeshwar Singh Manhas who was kidnapped by the Naxals during Bijapur attack on April 3, has been released by them, the Central Reserved Police Force (CRPF) said on Thursday. The director general of the CRPF has confirmed that Constable Rakeshwar Singh Manhas has been released. He has been taken for a medical check up, he added. According to the initial input, the CoBRA jawan was released in the presence of the two mediators appointed by the government — Padma Shri Dharmpal Saini and Gondwana Samaj head Telam Buraiya— and hundreds of villagers. The two-member mediation team was accompanied by seven media persons who were also present at the time of the jawan's release. Watch India Today's special segment 'Image of the Day'.
