In wake of surge in Covid-19 cases in India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair a meeting with chief ministers on Thursday to discuss the Covid-19 situation in the country, along with reviewing the ongoing vaccination drive. The daily Covid-19 count in India breached the 1.25 lakh-mark on Wednesday, with Maharashtra alone reporting 59,907 new cases. This is by far the highest daily case count for India ever since the pandemic began last year. Night curfews and restrictions were imposed in more parts of the country on Wednesday to control the spread of infection.
