Maharashtra Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad announced that students of classes 1 to 8 will be promoted to the next class without any examination, in the wake of the rising Covid cases in the state. Maharashtra recorded the highest single-day rise of 57,074 new Covid-19 cases, and 222 deaths on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the UK medical regulator reported that out of 30 people who suffered rare blood clots after receiving the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, seven have died. The news comes even as several European countries have paused the use of AstraZeneca vaccine over a potential link to blood clots.
