War pilot who lost his life when his bomber came down over Sunderland remembered 77 years on
  • 3 years ago
Alan Mitcheson, 88, was 12-years-old when he witnessed the Halifax bomber come down over Ryhope as he saw it fly 100ft above his home before it collided with the gable end of a house nearby.
Every year he marks the passing of pilot Cyril Barton by laying followers at the village green's war memorial.
