India reported 56,211 fresh Covid-19 cases and 271 deaths in the last 24 hours, the Union health ministry said Tuesday morning. The country's active caseload has mounted to 5,40,720, while 1,13,93,021 recoveries have been recorded so far. 78.56 per cent of the new cases were reported from six states -- Maharashtra, Punjab, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat -- the ministry said.
