Special Branch assistant director reveals assassination plot against Dr M, Guan Eng, Tommy Thomas

Bukit Aman Special Branch Assistant Director SAC Azman Omar revealed on an online forum today that despite the police making only seven arrests related to terror activities in 2020, extremism remained a real threat in the country.
Speaking at a roundtable discussion on ‘Islam, Radicalism & Extremism in the Age of Pandemic organised by the International Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies (IAIS) Malaysia, Azman said one of the individuals arrested plotted an attack against several government leaders, including then prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, and then finance minister Lim Guan Eng.
