With Their Livelihoods on Hold, Intramuros Vendors Struggle to Make Ends Meet

Guardia civil, puppet makers, kalesa operators—these are a few of the many workers and vendors that liven the tourist spots within Intramuros in Manila. With the rising COVID cases in the Philippines, however, they are several of thousands of Filipinos whose livelihoods suddenly have no certainty. Leaning on the support of the Intramuros Administration as well as on their own tenacity, they do their best to keep their heads up despite the odds.

[Editor's note: This video was produced shortly after Fort Santiago's reopening in February 2021. The tourist destination has once again been ordered closed on March 15 due to a spike in COVID-19 active cases in the country.]
