The Sámi people (Sami or Saami) are an indigenous Finno-Ugric people inhabiting Sápmi, which today encompasses large northern parts of Norway, Sweden, Finland and the Kola Peninsula within the Murmansk Oblast of Russia. The Sámi have historically been known in English as Lapps or Laplanders.
Sámi soga lávlla (Song of the Sami People) is the anthem of the Sámi people. The text was written by Isak Saba, and Arne Sørli composed the music. Originally a poem, it was first published in the Sámi newspaper in 1906.
