Real Diamond Do Not Show Up On X-ray.

Real diamonds are radiolucent (don't show up on medical X-rays) . So in the early days of X-rays you could tell the difference. Today, if it doesn't show up, it could still be a synthetic diamond, cubic zirconium, etc. But, even today, if it does show up, it is costume jewelry.
