Target, Kroger and Walgreens
to Continue Requiring Masks
Despite Lifted Mandates.
This week, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and
Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves announced that
they were ending all state-imposed mask mandates.
In response, national chain retailers including Target, Kroger
and Walgreens confirmed that they would be keeping
their mask requirements, per the CDC’s guidelines. .
Target stressed that its no-contact shopping
options were available for those who would prefer
not to wear a mask in its stores. .
A spokesperson for Kroger said that its mask policy
would remain in place until all of its “frontline grocery
associates” had received a vaccine.
[We] will continue to require everyone
in our stores across the country to
wear masks until all our frontline
grocery associates can receive
the COVID-19 vaccine, Kroger spokesperson, via 'The Hill'.
Walgreens said there was “no change at this time”
to its current policy and safety protocols and that it
was following “current CDC and OSHA guidelines.”.
Other retailers, such as Costco, Starbucks, Toyota, Macy's, Best Buy and more are following suit.
CVS Health said that its employees have
been directed to suggest face coverings when necessary,
but to ultimately “avoid escalated confrontations.”.
If a customer is not wearing
a mask or face covering, we will
refer them to our signage and
ask that they help protect themselves
and those around them, CVS Health, via 'The Hill'
