Takanakuy, a Quechua word that means "hitting each other," is a Christmas celebration that brings together the residents of the Santo Tomás district in Cusco every December 25 to "smooth things over."

For each Christmas Takanakuy people gather in the town's bullring. Whoever has a quarrel with another person stands in the middle of the coliseum and shouts his name. If the aforementioned appears, he means that he accepted the duel.
