Dust is labour of love and cinema: Vinay Pathak


Veteran actor Vinay Pathak starring social drama 'Dust' has finally released digitally on MUBI app. The Udita Bhargava’s directorial debut was screened at the Berlin Film Festival.

Vinay Pathak sharing the poster of the film tweeted:

“Finally it’s here. The labor of love n cinema. DUST a film by udita Bhargav now on MUBI. The film that premiered at @berlinale 2019 now ready for your viewing pleasure...”

Dust, which was screened at Berlin Film Festival under the New German Cinema category, is set against the backdrop of the Maoist insurgency.

The film also features Danish actor Morten Holst, and Kalyanee Mulay. In the film David - the character played by Holst, a young German who visits Indore after the death of his Indian photojournalist girlfriend Mumtaz (Amrita Bagchi) and “embarks on a journey to the troubled heart of India. As he tries to retrace her steps before her death, he digs deep into Mumtaz’s documentation of the Maoist uprising in Indore.

Bhargava began writing the script as a short film in 2013, towards the end of her course in Berlin. She was able to expand her story when she secured funding for a full-length feature from the production company Unafilm.
