Elizabeth gives herself a shiner the same evening Alvin's co-worker Mr. Underhill comes to dinner. Elizabeth and Alvin try to keep quiet when her mother visits and sleeps in. Elizabeth disastrously fills in at Alvin's office for a sick employee.
