Bihar BJP MLA Hari Bhushan Thakur has triggered a controversy with his remarks on the fertility rate of Muslims. Elected to the Bisfi Assembly constituency on a BJP ticket in 2020, Hari Bhushan Thakur said the fertility rate in Muslims was higher than in Hindus. Hari Bhushan Thakur made the comment in response to Bihar CM Nitish Kumar's claim that the fertility rate in the state has declined tremendously.

बिहार के मुख्यमंत्री नीतीश कुमार ने राज्य के प्रजनन दर में कमी आने की बात कही है. लेकिन उनके बयान से सहयोगी पार्टी बीजेपी ही सहमत नहीं है. दरअसल, विधानसभा के बाहर मीडिया से बातचीत में सीएम नीतीश कुमार ने कहा कि, राज्य में प्रजनन दर गिरकर 3.2 प्रतिशत पर आ गई है और हम इसे और नीचे लेकर आएंगे। प्रजनन दर में कमी लाने के लिए सरकार ने कई कदम उठाए हैं.
