The IT Ministry is looking to make changes to certain Sections to the IT Act to make social media intermediaries and over-the-top (OTT) platforms more accountable for the content shared through their platforms.

భారత్‌లో సోషల్ మీడియా, ఓటీటీ ప్లాట్‌ఫామ్స్‌ కట్టడికి కేంద్రం సిద్ధమవుతోంది. ఈ మేరకు ఇప్పటికే సంకేతాలు ఇచ్చిన కేంద్రం.. ఇప్పుడు ఐటీ చట్టంలో సవరణలు ప్రతిపాదిస్తోంది. ఇవి అమల్లోకి వస్తే సోషల్ మీడియా గ్రూపులు, యాప్‌లతో పాటు ఓటీటీల్లో పెట్టే సమాచారానికి అసలు బాధ్యులెవరో నిర్ణయించే అవకాశం ఉంటుంది. అప్పుడు వారిపై కఠిన చర్యలు తీసుకునేందుకు వీలు కలుగుతుందని కేంద్రం భావిస్తోంది. అయితే తమను సంప్రదించకుండా కేంద్రం దూకుడుగా ముందుకెళ్లడంపై ఆయా సంస్ధలు గగ్గోలు పెడుతున్నాయి.
