Political war erupts over skyrocketing fuel prices
  • 3 years ago
On a day when petrol crossed the Rs 100 mark, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday blamed the previous governments for not focussing on reducing India's energy import dependence. Petrol and diesel prices rose on Wednesday for the ninth consecutive day. Petrol and diesel prices have seen a rise 21 times in 2021, till now. Combined, the increase in the petrol and diesel prices has been roughly Rs 6 for the two fuels. Petrol is now retailing above Rs 90 per litre in all major cities including Delhi and is on the verge of crossing Rs 100 in major cities. It has already hit a century in some circles. Diesel, too, has climbed to levels never seen before in the country.
