माघ शुक्ल की पंचमी तिथि को विद्या और बुद्धि की देवी मां सरस्वती की उपासना की जाती है. इस पर्व को वसंत पंचमी कहते हैं. वर्ष के कुछ विशेष शुभ काल में से एक होने के कारण इसको "अबूझ मुहूर्त"भी कहा जाता है. इसमें विवाह, निर्माण और अन्य शुभ कार्य किए जा सकते हैं. ऋतुओं के इस संधिकाल में ज्ञान और विज्ञान दोनों का वरदान प्राप्त किया जा सकता है. इसके अलावा संगीत कला और आध्यात्म का आशीर्वाद भी इस काल में लिया जा सकता है. अगर कुंडली में विद्या बुद्धि का योग नहीं है या शिक्षा की बाधा का योग है तो इस दिन विशेष पूजा करके उसको ठीक किया जा सकता है. इस बार बसंत पंचमी 16 फरवरी को पड़ रही है.
