India opener Rohit Sharma came to the party on day one of the second Test at Chennai on Saturday against England. Rohit played a fluent knock as he raced to his seventh century on Indian soil ahead of tea. But, it was not Rohit who stole the shoe, instead his wife Ritika – who was in the stands – was thanked by fans after ‘Hitman’ hit a century on the eve of Valentine’s Day. Rohit was positive from the outset, despite wickets falling around him. He played his shots and was rewarded. At the time of filing the copy, India had recovered from the early setback and were 207 for three.

पारी का 12वां ओवर था. इंग्लैंड के ऑलराउंडर बेन स्टोक्स गेंदबाजी कर रहे थे. ओवर की दूसरी गेंद पर ही रोहित शर्मा का वो शॉट दिखा, जिसके लिए वो जाने जाते हैं. जी हाँ, पुल शॉट. कमाल का शॉट खेलते हैं रोहित और तो और, वो पूरी तरह से रिदम में लग रहे थे. रोहित शर्मा ने बेन स्टोक्स की एक गुड लेंथ डिलीवरी को उठाकर चिर-परिचित अंदाज में डीप स्क्वायर लेग के उपर से छक्के के लिए मारा. हालांकि, गेंद ज्यादा तेज नहीं थी पर बल्ले पर सही से चढ़ा था. जिसकी वजह से किसी तरह गेंद सीमा रेखा के पार जाकर गिरी. और इस तरह भारत की पारी का पहला छक्का रोहित शर्मा के बल्ले से आया. स्टेडियम में आए दर्शकों में जोश भरा और रोहित शर्मा ने इसके बाद उसी ओवर में एक बार फिर बेन स्टोक्स को पुल शॉट के जरिये ही चौका मारा.
