Mary Wilson, Co-Founder of
the Supremes, Dead at 76.
According to the singer's friend and publicist, Jay Schwartz, Wilson "passed away suddenly" at her home in Henderson, Nevada.
As a bestselling author, businesswoman,
motivational speaker and U.S. Cultural Ambassador,
Schwartz said her legacy extended beyond singing.
Wilson used her fame and flair to promote a diversity of humanitarian efforts including ending hunger, raising HIV/AIDS awareness and encouraging world peace, Jay Schwartz, via statement.
Wilson also helped to pass the
Music Modernization Act in 2018.
The Act helped to update
copyright policies for music
recorded before Feb. 15, 1972,
in the digital age of streaming.
Due to COVID-19, funeral services will be private, but an event celebrating Wilson's life will take place later this year.
She is survived by her son, daughter, grandchildren, sister and brother
