From the religious point of view, the month of Maagh is considered very holy. The Ekadashi which falls in the Krishna Paksha in this month is called Shattila Ekadashi. On Shatila Ekadashi, a person should observe a fast for Lord Vishnu. This year Shattila Ekadashi is on 7th January. Ekadashi Tithi has been considered a very important date in the scriptures. This day is specially dedicated to Lord Vishnu. On this day, a fast is observed to get the blessings of Vishnu, the follower of the world.

धार्मिक दृष्टि से माघ का महीना बड़ा ही पवित्र माना जाता है। इस माह में कृष्ण पक्ष में आने वाली एकादशी को षटतिला एकादशी कहते हैं। षट्तिला एकादशी के दिन मनुष्य को भगवान विष्णु के निमित्त व्रत रखना चाहिए। इस साल षटतिला एकादशी 7 जनवरी को है। शास्त्रों में एकादशी तिथि को बेहद महत्वपूर्ण तिथि माना गया है। यह दिन विशेष रूप से भगवान विष्णु जी को समर्पित होता है। इस दिन जगत के पालनहार विष्णु जी का आशीर्वाद पाने के लिए व्रत का पालन किया जाता है।
