Tesla capped its breakout year with a record profit in 2020. But Tesla’s core business of manufacturing cars didn’t contribute to that profit. Of the estimated 70 million vehicles Tesla managed to sell just 500,000 cars. Tesla booked a whopping $1.58 billion of revenue from another business in the US itself. This outweighed Tesla's net income of $721 million.
