Josue Pavon remembers being in New Orleans for the game between the Celtics and Pelicans the day that Kobe Bryant died and sharing expressions with Celtics players and coaches that showcased the shared emotions without words. Jayson Tatum didn't play that day and Josue remembered how secondary the game was to the knowledge everybody had acquired by then that Kobe died in a tragic helicopter crash that morning. Tuesday marked the one year anniversary of Kobe, Gigi Bryant and six other deaths in that accident.
