Vavi says increased VAT will burden the poor

The South African Federation of Trade Unions says increasing VAT will further burden the poor. This comes after reports that Treasury is looking at ways to pay for COVID-19 vaccines and tax hikes may be on the cards. An estimated R20 billion is needed to cover the bill.
