66- Ruling on papers and letters that bear Basmalah after using them. Q: Is it permissible for us to dispose of papers bearing Basmalah ("Bismillah Al-Rahman, Al-Rahim [In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful]") such as letters and newspapers, or should we get rid of them in a specific place? A: They should be discarded in a respectable place, burnt, or buried in a clean place. They should not be thrown in the garbage as they bear Basmalah or some Qur`anic verse. [Vol. 1]
