Key meet on Covid-19 vaccine approval today; Bengal Governor hits back at TMC; more

An expert committee of the national drugs regulator will meet on Friday (January 1) to take a decision on the emergency-use authorisation application of Serum Institute of India’s (SII) Oxford-AstraZeneca and Bharat Biotech's vaccine candidates against the coronavirus disease. Meanwhile, West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar has shot back at the ruling TMC, after party leaders sent a memorandum to President Ram Nath Kovind, demanding immediate removal of the Governor who has been at loggerheads with the state government for months. Dhankhar claimed that "free and fair elections are not held in the state, and it is his duty to ensure people exercise their franchise without fear". Watch First Up for more.
