KJ: Vaccine priority will be based on risk assessment, not social status or wealth

The Covid-19 vaccines will be given to those who are most likely to be at risk of infection rather than their social status, says Khairy Jamaluddin.

The Science, Technology and Innovation Minister said the matter was discussed at the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday (Dec 23) was asked about the government’s vaccination plan for foreign workers.

Khairy said a list of recommendations on Covid-19 inoculation is being drawn up which will include looking into vaccination for prison inmates and foreign workers, adding that he was of the opinion that prison inmates should be high on the vaccination priority list because they are susceptible to outbreaks and there is nowhere for them to go if such an incident happens in prison.
