Life outside the EU: Swiss lessons for post-Brexit UK (part 2)

In our latest "out-and-about" Talking Europe, we're taking you to a land of mountains, lakes, chocolate, banks and neutrality. It is, of course, Switzerland: the landlocked country in the heart of Europe with four official languages, which is home to the highest peaks in Europe and which boasts some of its most stunning scenery. It's also home to dozens of international organisations, including the Red Cross and the International Olympic Committee – but is famously not a member of the European Union.
Instead, this most independent of nations has a patchwork of agreements on how it trades and interacts with the EU. We're there to look into what that means for Switzerland and its people. To do so, we've chosen to look at one of the areas both Switzerland and the European Union spend the most money on: farming and food. As another country – the UK – begins its post-EU life, it's cutting ties to things like the Common Agricultural Policy, which hands out subsidies to farmers while also setting rules for how they work their land.
