Following the violence that took place at Wistron's Kolar facility in Karnataka on December 12, the police have now picked up a local president of the Students' federation of India (SFI) in this regard. The individual has been identified as Comrade Srikanth, the taluk president of SFI in Kolar. However, this action by the police came about on Wednesday, a day after S Muniswamy of the BJP alleged that SFI was behind the violence. Muniswamy had said that organizations like SFI are trying to scare companies and dissuade them from investing in India. He also claimed to have footage and video surveillance corresponding to the incident. Speaking to India Today TV, Muniswamy said, "SFI people had conducted meetings to protest against Wistron. We have evidence and have given it to the police. There are also WhatsApp messages on the protest plan." The BJP leader further claimed that SFI does not want any industry and that he will write to the Union and state home ministers on the violence. "Workers should speak to the department if they have problems. Even if they protest, it should be peaceful," Muniswamy added.
