'Sister Act 3' Starring Whoopi Goldberg Is in Production .
Disney announced the third installment of the franchise on Dec. 10 along with a slew of other projects.
Goldberg will reprise her role as Deloris Van Cartier, a singer-turned-nun via the witness protection program.
The original film was released in 1992, and the sequel was released in 1993.
Nearly three decades later, the films still have a cult following.
Goldberg teased the possibility of a third film in October.
