The World Meteorological Organization has forecast 2020 to be among the top three hottest years on record.
This is according to the organization's provisional annual climate report, based on data from January to October this year.
The WMO also said that the six years from 2015 to 2020 would be recorded as the warmest six years since records began in 1850.
They warned this year's average global temperature is expected to be 1-point-2 degrees Celsius higher than pre-industrial levels, and added if the trend continues, there's at least a 20 percent chance the average global temperature will temporarily exceed pre-industrial levels by 1-point-5 degrees Celsius by 2024.
