Sharifah is a Rohingya woman from the Rakhine State in Myanmar - a war-torn land riddled with discrimination and oppression for generations.
When she was just two years old, her father fled to Malaysia to escape the military oppression in Myanmar - leaving Sharifah, her mother and her two siblings to fend for themselves.
From Malaysia, her father arranged to have his family brought to Malaysia in stages. Today, they have resettled in the United States where they have the paperwork and documents that they once could only dream of.
