China has launched its milestone space mission to the moon.
With the successful launch of its Chang'e-5 mission on Tuesday,... China is seeking to become the first nation to collect lunar samples in 5 decades.
The team previously said it would be the most complicated mission by far.
"The mission will last 23 days involving 23 major orbit control tasks, six major separation control tasks, powered lowering, moon surface taking off, lunar orbit rendezvous and other relevant higher risk tasks."
The mission aims to collect 2 kilograms of samples in a previously unvisited area,... using an unmanned spacecraft.
Previously, only two countries have successfully retrieved lunar samples the United States and the Soviet Union.
