U.S. Major League Baseball becomes the latest place to shatter a long-existing glass ceiling,... as Kim Ng becomes the first female general manager for the Miami Marlins team.
Her milestone achievement comes thirty years after starting out as an intern for the Chicago White Sox,.. followed by assistant general manager roles and also serving as senior vice president of baseball operations at MLB headquarters.
Her inspiration,... were other strong female figures.
"As a child I looked up to Billie Jean King was one. As a woman who fought for equality throughout her entire career and is still fighting to this day. And the second one is Martina Navratilova and she for me was somebody who really changed the women's game..."
Foreign media has praised Ng's appointment, saying that in the MLB traditionally a male-dominated industry it is possible to break barriers.
