Hong Kong’s No 2 official Matthew Cheung denounced latest US sanctions as ‘barbaric’

In a press conference on November 10, 2020, Hong Kong Chief Secretary Matthew Cheung Kin-chung expressed strong opposition against the latest round of sanctions from the US imposed on Hong Kong and mainland Chinese officials. The officials were accused by Washington of cracking down on anti-government activists in the city. Cheung has denounced the growing sanctions list as ‘unacceptable, outrageous and barbaric’.
