SCOTUS Allows Longer Deadlines, for Absentee Ballots, in North Carolina and Pennsylvania.
The two Supreme Court decisions
were handed down on Wednesday.
Election officials in both North Carolina and
Pennsylvania will be able to count absentee
ballots several days after the election.
Pennsylvania and North Carolina
are considered battleground states
in the 2020 presidential election.
Both rulings were handed down unsigned.
Three dissections by Justices Gorsuch, Alito
and Thomas were noted on the North Carolina ruling.
The Supreme Court's decision carries
added significance in Pennsylvania, .
where the Butler County director of elections
reports there have been more than 10,000 calls
about requested mail-in ballots that have not arrived.
Our focus right now is to make sure that everyone that was impacted by this gets a ballot and is able to vote, Aaron Sheasley, Butler County Director of Elections, via CNN
