International Youth Day is observed on August 12 since 2000 to celebrate youth. It was first designated by the UN General Assembly in 1999. The day focuses on addressing the issues faced by the youth and enhancing their potential. The theme for International Youth Day 2019 is 'Transforming education'. It focuses on highlighting the "efforts to make education more inclusive and accessible for all youth, including efforts by youth themselves". There are currently 1.8 billion young people between the ages of 10 and 24 in the world.
