Kamal Haasan reacts to Amita Shah’s Hindi language remark. Haasan warned the Centre against the Hindi imposition, saying that the country became a republic in 1950 with a promise of 'Unity in Diversity'. In a video message, Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) chief said that another language agitation will take place, warning that it will be bigger than Jallikattu protests. Haasan also said that "Unity in diversity is a promise we made when India became a republic. Now no Shah, Sultan or Samrat should renege on that promises.” This development comes two days after Union Home Minister Amit Shah's call for Hindi as a common language.
