The Congress-NCP, despite their defeat, has put up a respectable performance by cumulatively crossing the 100-mark in Maharashtra. The BJP-Shiv Sena lead has declined to 156 constituencies. Independents and candidates of smaller parties are leading in 33 constituencies. In Haryana, the state stares at a cliffhanger as no party has succeeded in crossing the majority mark. At 4 pm, the BJP was leading in 39 seats, Congress 33 and the JJP in 10 constituencies.
