The world woke up to the chilling news of a pre-emptive US strike in Baghdad which claimed the lives of Iran’s top most military commander General Qassem Soleimani and Iraq’s para military leader Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis. The Pentagon, says the strike was "aimed at deterring future Iranian attack plans". The US would take "all necessary action to protect our people and our interests" around the world, it added. Iran has vowed revenge and called the strike a “foolish and dangerous escalation.”
