One of India’s greatest all-rounders, Vinoo Mankad was born on this day in 1917. Although today Mankad is more popular for the ‘Mankading Method’ which was named after him, Vinoo Mankad was an established opening batsman and a handy left-arm spinner in his playing days. He held the highest individual Test score record for many years and was also India’s first-ever to score a century and take five-wickets in a single Test match
