“Get Tested, Dont Be Afraid”: Shivraj Singh Chouhans Appeal After Testing Positive For COVID-19

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who confirmed on July 25 that he had tested positive for coronavirus, posted a video on July 26. In the video, CM Chouhan described himself as "absolutely fine". Chouhan urged all those showing symptoms of COVID-19 to get themselves tested, reassuring people that "there is no need to fear". In a 1 minute 17 seconds video uploaded to his Twitter account, Chouhan is seen dressed in a blue hospital gown, sitting up in a bed in Bhopal's Chirayu Hospital. Chouhan urged people showing symptoms to get themselves tested as soon as possible. He also urged people to follow hygiene protocols & guidelines laid down by the centre, such as social distancing and usage of face masks. The Chief Minister also held a meeting, via video-conference, from the hospital to review the situation in the state. Reportedly, Chouhan's wife Sadhna Singh and sons Kartikeya and Kunal, have all tested negative, although they are in quarantine as a precautionary measure. Madhya Pradesh has 26,926 confirmed coronavirus cases, of which more than 7,600 are active & 799 are deaths linked to the virus. Total number of confirmed cases in India is rapidly approaching the 14 lakh mark. India is now the third most infected country in the world, behind only United States (41.78 lakh cases) & Brazil (23.94 lakh cases).
