1st Chinese Graveyard In Gilgit Named 'Cheeni Yaadgar'

The first-ever Chinese graveyard or 'Cheeni Yaadgar' was constructed in Gilgit where almost more than 110 Chinese engineers and workers have been buried, those who died during the construction of the Karakoram Highway. The highway is also known as the 'Friendship Highway', constructed with the association of Pakistan and Chinese governments. The Karakoram Highway project was started in 1959 and was completed in 1979. Over 140 Chinese engineers and workers died and were buried in this graveyard. People of China often visit this place in the memories of those who made exceptional efforts. Not only Chinese but 900 Pakistanis also passed away in completing this project. Watch out the video
