Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi (26 October 1890 – 25 March 1931) was an Indian journalist, a leader of the Indian National Congress and an independence movement activist. He was an important figure in the non-cooperation movement and the freedom movement of India, who once translated Victor Hugo's novel Ninety-Three, and is mostly known as the founder-editor of the Hindi language newspaper, Pratap.

विख्यात पत्रकार गणेश शंकर विद्यार्थी ने अपनी लेखनी के जरिए देश की पत्रकारिता को नई दिशा दी। 26 अक्टूबर को गणेश शंकर विद्यार्थी का जन्मदिन है। बतौर एक पत्रकार राष्‍ट्रीय आंदोलन में विद्यार्थी का योगदान वाकई अतुल्नीय है। गणेशशंकर विद्यार्थी जीवनभर धार्मिक कट्टरता और उन्माद के खिलाफ आवाज मुखर रहे। आजादी आंदोलन के दौर में दंगाई भीड़ के बीच भाईचारा कायम करने के लिए उन्होंने अपनी जान कुर्बान कर दी। 25 मार्च, 1931 की तारीख को कानपुर में हुए हिंदू-मुस्लिम दंगे के दौरान हिंसक भीड़ की चपेट में आ उन्होंने जान गंवा दी थी।
