शास्त्रों में सभी देवी-देवताओं की पूजा पाठ के नियम बताए गए हैं। लेकिन फिर भी पूजा में हमसे किसी न किसी प्रकार की गलती हो जाती है। जिस तरह से शास्त्रों में प्रार्थना, स्नान, ध्यान और यहां तक की भोग लगाने के मंत्र भी बताए गए है, उसी तरह क्षमा याचना मंत्र भी बताया गया है। इसके द्वारा हम पूजा में की गई गलतियों और भूल चूक के लिए ईश्वर से क्षमा मांगते हैं।
