Star England all-rounder Ben Stokes has revealed that his ailing father, for whom he took a break from cricket, encouraged him to return to action in the IPL by telling him that he was duty-bound "to do the job". Stokes took compassionate leave in the middle of the home Test series against Pakistan in August and travelled to New Zealand to attend to his father who has been diagnosed with brain cancer.

बेन स्टोक्स आईपीएल खेलने के लिए युएई पहुँच चुके हैं. इस समय वो नियम के अनुसार जरुरी क्वारनटिन समय बिता रहे हैं. छह दिनों तक उन्हें आइसोलेशन में रखा गया है. किसी से कोई संपर्क नहीं. 10 अक्तूबर को उनका ये समय खत्म हो जाएगा. आइसोलेशन के बाद कोविड-19 टेस्ट नेगेटिव आने के बाद वो टीम से जुड़ेंगे. बेन स्टोक्स 11 तारिख को होने वाले मैच के लिए उपलब्ध हो सकेंगे. स्टोक्स ने खुलासा किया कि उनके बीमार पिता ने ही उन्हें आईपीएल के जरिए क्रिकेट में वापसी करने को कहा.स्टोक्स ने डेली मिरर में अपने कॉलम में लिखा,‘‘क्राइस्टचर्च में अपने पिता, मां और भाई को अलविदा कहना बहुत मुश्किल था."
