FBI Nabs Amazon Employee Who Loved Issuing Refunds--To Himself
  • 4 years ago
Vu Ang Nguyen worked as a selling support associate for Amazon.com in Tempe, Arizona.
That gave him the power to manually authorize refund requests. And according to Business Insider, he sure did. A lot.
Nguyen was arrested and charged with fraud last week after the company reported him to the FBI.
Federal prosecutors say in court documents that Nguyen used his position to issue $96,508 in fraudulent refunds to himself and friends.
Nguyen allegedly used eight fake buyer accounts to purchase expensive computers and electronics before issuing more than 300 refunds to the accounts.
He then funneled the money to himself and his associates without returning the electronics.
