Mahua Moitra and Nirmala Sitharaman Engage in War of Words on PM Cares Fund
  • 4 years ago
Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra launched a fierce attack on the PM Cares Fund in Parliament, arguing that it takes away statutory promises made under the GST regime, and corners public funds to the detriment of state relief funds. She likened the PSUs to “courtiers of the Emperor” competing to donate money to PM Cares Fund. She also slammed the government for accepting funds from Chinese companies and said no “dying Indian would want to be on a ventilator paid for by enemy money.” Giving a strong rebuttal, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman slammed the opposition on the debate on PM Cares Fund and said while the PM CARES Fund is registered, the PM National Relief Fund, which was set up by the Congress government, was not yet registered. She wondered why the Congress government never bothered to get the PM National Relief Fund (PMNRF) registered. Watch the video to know the arguments made on both the sides.
