LK Advani, one of the prime accused in the Babri Demolition case, hailed the special CBI court's judgement as historic after it acquitted 32 persons accused in the case. He said, "A historic judgment by the court and a day of happiness for all of us." The special CBI court acquitted other prominent leaders like MM Joshi and Uma Bharti as well. The court's verdict came almost 28 years after the Babri Masjid was demolished by a mob of kar sevaks.
