The Indian Navy has shortlisted two woman officers as crew for helicopters, which will make them the first woman air combatants to stay on and operate from the deck of a ship once deployed. The Navy said Sub Lieutenants Riti Singh and Kumudini Tyagi have been shortlisted as observers in the helicopter stream. Observers are supposed to calculate the threat and designate the target.

भारतीय नौसेना के इतिहास में पहली बार दो महिला अफसर को वॉर शिप पर तैनात किया जाएगा। इन दोनों को हेलिकॉप्टर स्ट्रीम में ऑब्जर्वर (एयरबोर्न टैक्टिशियंस) के पद में शामिल होने के लिए चुना गया है। नेवी दो महिला पायलट सब लेफ्टिनेंट कुमुदिनी त्‍यागी और सब लेफ्टिनेंट रीति सिंह को पहली बार किसी वॉरशिप पर तैनात करने वाली है। भारतीय नौसेना ने महिला अधिकारियों को महत्‍वपूर्ण तैनाती दी है। पहली बार हेलिकॉप्‍टर स्‍ट्रीम में दो महिलाओं को 'ऑब्‍जर्वर्स' के रूप में चुना गया है।
